Pendragon 40th Anniversary Shows!
Pendragon have announced 3 shows to be performed in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the band! The shows will take place in London (UK), Zoetermeer (NL), and Pratteln (CH) in November 2018.
Pendragon: “Each of these special extended 'not to be missed' shows will showcase the 40 years of music by the band from the earliest years (some stuff you have probably never ever heard live!) right up to the current releases and we will have some special guests on stage alongside the regular line up… not only that but we’re going to record it all for a massive commemorative 40th anniversary release.
We’re really looking forward to celebrating with you all and of course look forward to the next 40 years!”
Clive Nolan and Friends House Concert in France!
Clive: "My first gig of 2018 takes place in France on 17th February, which is a good place to start a year! It’s a house gig, and I’m really looking forward to seeing some familiar faces there. Gemma will be coming out with me to sing, and I’m sure we will have some fun!
I'd like to thank Thomas and Agnes for organising the event and Fabien for designing the poster."
Clive Nolan features in Animated Film!
In October 2017 Clive recorded a voice-over for the Polish animated production written and directed by a prolific and highly acclaimed filmmaker, Joanna Polak. A short film entitled “Woolworld” tells a story of Mr. Wooly and his friends, who live in a world made of wool. The protagonist is not happy with his life and hopes for a change that will make his existence more interesting. Unfortunately for him, his wish comes true…
Clive recorded an English version of the voice-over, including the narration and the monologues of the main character. The official premiere of the film will take place at The Centre for the Meeting of Cultures (Centrum Spotkania Kultur) in Lublin, Poland on Friday, December 15th, 2017. Subsequently, the film will be screened at the major film festivals around the world.
Clive: “A while ago I recorded a voice over for a rather unusual short film. In this animated production, everything is made of wool, and I took on the persona of ‘Mr Woolly’, something I never expected to add to my CV. Actually, it was a lot of fun… if you get a chance, please check it out. Good luck to Joanna and the whole team at the premiere!”
"Woolworld" trailer will be available right after the premiere.
Christmas with Caamora Norway. Thank you!
On December 1st and 2nd, 2017 Clive and Caamora Norway performed 3 Christmas concerts in Sætre and Mysen, Norway. The shows featured Clive on grand piano and vocals, the live band: Morten L. Clason (flute), Arnfinn Isaksen (bass), Stig Andre Clason (guitar), the soloists: Elisabeth Syrdahl Ellingsen, Harriet Müller-Tyl, Christine Ekeberg, Hans Andreas Brandal, Victoria Byremo, and the Caamora Norway Chorus. The artists performed a selection of songs by Clive including “The Gift”, the Norwegian folk Christmas classic “Musevisa” (in Norwegian!), as well as the world premiere of Clive’s new Christmas song “Embers”.
Clive: “I had a fantastic time in Norway with the Vikings and some Polish and French friends! Three very enjoyable Christmas concerts, and the start of a new tradition I think! Thanks to all of you for such a great attitude and enthusiasm... I'll be back!”
"KING'S RANSOM" 2018 THEATRE SHOW "FOR IAN"
Clive: "This is a hard announcement to make, so I will try and be direct. The director of my recent musical shows and my friend Ian Baldwin is extremely ill. This will, at best, be his toughest battle!
Some time ago before he ended up in hospital, when we were all blissfully unaware of the state of his health, Ian and I agreed that all the work that went into the debut stage performance of ‘King’s Ransom’ really deserved more than one performance.
I feel it’s time to make good on that, so I contacted all the cast and crew involved in the recent shows and asked if they would get involved. I received a unanimous ‘YES’… so we are going to do it!
‘King’s Ransom’ will be performed again, according to Ian’s vision of the show, at the Cheltenham Playhouse on Saturday September 8th. We will do this raise money for a plaque, which will become a permanent fixture in the Playhouse Theatre, and any more money raised will go to the Sue Ryder Hospice, which has been so important to Ian in recent weeks. Everyone is working for nothing so, beyond expenses, we hope to raise a decent amount of money.
September 2018 may seem rather a long way away under the circumstances, but it was the earliest date we could pull all the elements together. Whatever the circumstances this show will happen… for Ian.
Why am I telling you this… simple… I want to invite you all to come and see the show next year. If you’ve been before, then please consider coming again. If you didn’t make it this year, then come along and see it. We are doing this to celebrate our friend and our director Ian Baldwin. Please join us. We will perform ‘King’s Ransom’, and there will hopefully be a few surprise extras that evening."
